BiographyMario Malagnini is one of the most popular italian tenors, singing at the world's great opera houses of Vienna to Paris and London to New York. In Germany Malagnini frequently performs at the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich and at Deutsche Oper Berlin.
In 2011-12 season, Malagnini performed, amongst others, Calaf|Turandot at the Royal Opera House Muscat in Oman, Radamès|Aida at the Taipei Arena in Taiwan, Foresto|Attila in Berlin, and as Otello in Solothurn. 2012-13 he sang as Pinkerton|Madama Butterfly in Hannover, as Don Carlos in Modena, Piacenza and Solothurn, as Don José|Carmen and Cavaradossi|Tosca at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, and as Riccardo|Un ballo in maschera in Solothurn. In Seoul he performed in a concert. 2013-14 her performed as Stiffelio in Catania.
His appearances in the recent past include Loris|Fedora and Don José under M° Michel Plasson at Milan's La Scala and at the Arena di Verona, Otello at the Teatro Sao Carlo in Lisbon, Radamès under M° Plácido Domingo at Caracalla in Rome, Rodolfo|La bohème conducted by Daniel Oren in Verona, and Foresto at the Rome Opera. Important role debuts of recent years were also the Manrico|Il trovatore at the Festival in Solothurn, and Maurizio|Adriana Lecouvreur in Santiago de Chile, directed by Renata Scotto. With the
Roman Opera Malagnini went on tour in Japan as Don José together with Agnes Baltsa. In 2005 he was the star guest at the New Year's concert at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Malagnini worked with many of the leading conductors as Giuseppe Patané, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Riccardo Muti, Claudio Abbado, Anton Guadagno, Nello Santi, Marcello Viotti.
Numerous victories in prestigious singing competitions, such as "Tito Gobbi", "Enrico Caruso" in Milan, "Belvedere" in Vienna, helped him to quickly become known after having finished his studies in Milan.
Malagnini's repertoire today includes more than thirty-five roles, many of these by Verdi. But also for example as Rodolfo, Cavaradossi, or Don José he often can be heard worldwide.
