BiographyFormed during the 1940s, The NSO began life with a ten-year recording contract for Decca. It recorded many film scores at the famous Abbey Road studios, including the cult film Brief Encounter and Love Story. Past members of the orchestra have included the celebrated French Horn soloist Dennis Brain, the eminent Conductor Norman del Mar and the world famous percussionist James Blades. At one performance in Switzerland, the orchestra was presented to an impressed Richard Strauss.
