Biography | The Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Trust was established in 1966 by The Earl Mountbatten of Burma to honour the memory of his great friend Pandit Nehru, one of the founding fathers of the Republic of India. The Trust received its initial endowment from the British Treasury and has followed twin objectives to provide competitive scholarships for the very best postgraduate students from India to study at the University of Cambridge, Nehrus alma mater, and to organise an annual memorial lecture to recognise Indias cultural and political contribution to world development since Nehrus death. |
