Biography | Studied at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, and taught by Alexander Boyarsky throughout this time, Sarah Hughes has led the cello sections of the String, Sinfonia and Symphony Orchestras. Sarah was awarded the 2012 Ida Mabbett and Freda Dinn String Prize for excellence and, in the same year, represented the RCMJD as a soloist in a London Cello Society performance and masterclass. Sarah was Principal Cellist of the National Children's Orchestra for 6 years and was awarded a Leverhulme Scholarship for outstanding auditions for each year of membership. During her time with the NCO, Sarah played in concerts across the country including those at Birmingham Symphony Hall and Cadogan Hall. |
