BiographyGlynne Adams' career began with learning the violin in Dunedin in 1940, followed by a scholarship to the Royal College of Music, London in 1946. In 1951 he changed to viola and began playing with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in Wellington. In 1963 he was invited to study in Germany with the Hungarian impresario Tibor Varga and on his return was appointed prinipcal viola with NZSO. In 1966 he was appointed as the principal of the viola section of the London Symphony Orchestra.

Adams returned to Auckland in 1969 as senior lecturer in viola at the Auckland University music school. He was a frequent contributor on NZSO programmes and Concert Programme broadcasts.
