BiographyThe Arnaut Brothers were a comedic clown duo consisting of brothers John and Rene Aranut. Born in Sweden to a circus owning father, the two brothers began performing as clowns as small children, working for their father until being offered a contract to perform in America in 1910. The duo performed for many years on the vaudeville circuit, but by the 1940's had begun performing on television, appearing on programs like The Ed Sullivan Show (1953) and The Milton Berle Show (1948). They sometimes performed with Bertha Biermann as "The Three Arnauts", but were better known for their two-man act. They were particularly known for dressing as and imitating birds as part of their act.

During the war, they were used by the government as entertainers to perform for schools and to sell Liberty Bonds, dressed as birds.
