Biography | Karl Kamann, bass-baritone, died in Vienna on April 10; he was 60. He was born in Cologne, and studied singing with Max Buttner. He made his debut at Karlsruhe, and was leading baritone at Brunswick 1928-31, Chemnitz 1931-8, and a member of the Vienna Opera from 1938. He sang at Covent Garden in 1938 as Wotan and Sachs, and was heard in these roles in the post-war seasons 1950-3. |
