Biography | Geraint Dodd was born in Rhosllanerchrugog, North Wales and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music with Joseph Ward. For WNO he has sung Florestan Fidelio, Cavaradossi Tosca, Pinkerton Madam Butterfly, Don José Carmen, Duke Rigoletto, Vogelgesang Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Macduff Macbeth. Other roles include Canio I pagliacci (English National Opera; Opera North and Opera Holland Park); Florestan, Nadir The Pearl Fishers, title role Werther and Rodolfo La bohème (English Touring Opera); Turiddu Cavalleria rusticana (Raymond Gubbay Productions, Royal Albert Hall); Calaf Turandot and Radamès Aida (Mid Wales Opera). Abroad he has sung Pinkerton (Singapore Lyric Opera). He has worked with many leading conductors including Owain Arwel Hughes, David Lloyd Jones, Wilfred Boettcher and Stanislaw Skrowaczewski in works such as Elgars Dream of Gerontius, Rossinis Stabat Mater, Verdis Requiem and Handels Messiah. Concert engagements include Verdis Requiem (Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool); Puccinis Messa di Gloria (St Andrews University); Gounods Messe Solennelle de Sainte Cécile (National Concert Hall, Dublin). He made his concert debut in Europe in a performance of Beethovens 9th Symphony (Orquestre de Sinfonica Portuguese, Lisbon). |
