| Biography | Born in Argentina and a Spanish citizen, conductor and pianist Enrique Ricci has lived for many years in Barcelona and long held the position of Music Consultant and Conductor at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
Ricci has been constantly working all over the world with orchestras such as the National Symphony in Washington D.C., as well as in New York, Montréal, Los Angeles, Miami, Columbia and Atlantic City: He has conducted a series of concerts with the Royal Philharmonic and the B.B.C. Concert Orchestra in London, Birmingham and Sheffield. He has also conducted in München, Dortmund, Essen, Kiel, Münster, Wiesbaden, Regensburg, Herford and Halle, series of concerts with the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie including an opening gala at the Offenbach Festival and symphonic repertory for the WDR of Cologne. He has performed in Sweden (Gothenburg), Netherlands (Rotterdam and Eindhoven) , Austria and Poland.
He has appeared at the head of the Czech Philharmonic, the Janácek Philharmonic (also for the International Music Festival in Ostrava), the Moravian Philharmonic, the Philharmonia Hungarica, the Estonian Symphony, the Ljubljana Festival Orchestra, the Danish Radio in Copenhagen and the Norwegian Radio in Oslo, the Bologna Chamber Orchestra, as well as the Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Barcelona Symphony, the City of Malaga and the City of Granada orchestras and other Spanish cities. He has also conducted in Ankara, Aspendos and Mersin in Turkey, the Orchestra and Chorus of the National Opera of China in Beijing, the KBS Symphony Orchestra from Korea, the Singapore Symphony and the Philippine Philharmonic.
In Latin America he has conducted both operatic and symphonic repertories at the National Auditorium, Sala Nezahualcóyotl and Opera de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, in Guadalajara, Monterrey and Guanajuato; in Costa Rica, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Chile (Chile Symphony Orchestra and as Musical Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra), in Sao Paulo, Porto Alegre and Curitiba with the Brazilian Symphony, in Uruguay and Argentina (Teatro Colon Orchestra, Buenos Aires Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra and as Director of the National Radio Youth Symphony, etc.). He has also directed the Teatro Colon Chamber Opera in many of its frequent international tours.
Over many years he has dedicated special attention to his collaboration with tenor José Carreras in operatic concerts, megaconcerts and recitals in settings such as the London's Royal Albert Hall, the Verona Arena, the Rudolfinum in Prague, the Spektrum in Oslo, Munich Olympiahalle, Seoul Cultural Center, San Diego Opera House, the Greek Theatre of Los Angeles, Montréal Forum Centre, the Radio City Music Hall in New York, the Great Theatre of Ephesus in Turkey and many others. He also conducted the CD "Zarzuelas" with Carreras and the English Chamber Orchestra.
He has achieved widespread recognition as a recital pianist, accompanying such major stars as Victoria de los Angeles, Montserrat Caballé, Nicolai Gedda, Regine Crespin, Hermann Prey, Alfredo Kraus, Renato Bruson, Ghena Dimitrova, Nicolai Ghiaurov, Elena Obraztsova, Nicola Ghiuselev, Irina Arkhipova, Martina Arroyo, Jess Thomas, Heather Harper, Karita Mattila, Ramon Vargas, Horst Laubenthal, Peter Schreier, Wolfgang Brendel, Francisco Araiza, Giacomo Aragall (also in his latest CD with orchestrated songs of operatic composers), the above mentioned Carreras and Giuseppe Di Stefano in a series of special performa |
