Biography | Matthew Best formed the Corydon Orchestra in 1991 and it made its debut in April that year in a series of Mozart concerts at St Johns, Smith Square, in London. Its members are all among the finest instrumentalists currently working in England.
Corydon Orchestra made its recording debut for Hyperion in 1992 with Bruckners Mass in F. Their recording with Corydon Singers of Bruckners Te Deum and Mass in D minor was selected as one of the releases of 1993 by BBC Radio 3s Record Review while their Berlioz LEnfance du Christ and Beethoven cantatas were runners-up, respectively, at the 1996 and 1997 Gramophone Awards. |
