BiographyElizabeth was born of Anglo-Welsh parentage and studied at the Royal Academy of Music London. Since her career began she has sung over 60 operatic roles and over 40 oratorio works. Most notably, as a principal guest artiste with The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, she has sung Clorinda (La Cenerentola) with Carlo Rizzi, Dama (twice) in Verdi’s Macbeth under Simone Young and Yakov Kreizberg; Inez in Elijah Moshinsky’s production of Il Trovatore under Sir Edward Downes; and Mrs Coyle in Ben Britten’s opera ‘Owen Wingrave’ under the baton of the young Rory MacDonald. Elizabeth is a former English National Opera Company principal where her roles have been Fiordiligi, Leila, Helena (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) under Steuart Bedford; Micaela under Alexander Polianichko in Jonathan Miller’s Carmen, also First Lady, Musica Orfeo, Musetta and Flower Maiden (Parsifal) under Mark Elder. For Welsh National Opera she has sung Jenufa in Czech and English conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras and for Scottish Opera Suzanna (Figaro).


Other roles include Anna (Intermezzo, R.Strauss) and Second Maid (Daphne – also R.Strauss) for Opera North. Eurydice (Orpheus and Eurydice – Gluck) for English Touring Opera, Phyllis (Iolanthe) and Casilda (The Gondoliers) for Doyle Carte, Marguerite (Mid Wales Opera), Violetta, at the Belfast Opera House, Amenaide (Tancredi) for the Buxton Festival, Mermaid (Oberon) at La Fenice – Venice and the title role of Norma at Craig y Nos Castle.She has sung at many festivals including Wexford and Cheltenham, whilst distinguished concerts include the BBC Proms (Nicholas Maw’s Scenes and Arias) Royal Albert Hall with Mark Elder, Sea Symphony and Mozart’s Requiem at the Barbican. Agathe (Der Freichutz) Chelsea Opera Group and Euryanthe with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment at the Q.E.H. also with Elder. She has sung over eight performances of the Verdi Requiem, the Songs of the Auvergne with Steuart Bedford and Richard Hickox (Barbican) and Ein Deutsches Requiem Brahms and Beethoven’s Mass in ‘D’ with the RPO. Her discography includes a Solo album ‘Sacred Moments’, A duet album with the RPO, Iolanthe and The Gondoliers for That’s Entertainment Records, an album of gospel songs recorded with her husband called ‘The Wonder of it all’ and a Christmas album.

Abroad she has been a guest soloist for concert tours to Australia, Europe and America during which she sang for live television shows. Last year she gave recitals and master-class in the USA. (Branson, Missouri, Fort Worth Dallas and Houston Texas). This year she returns to the US to sing at Colorado Springs, Denver and more concerts in Northern Ireland. In the Autumn of 2008 she returns to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden to sing 4th Maid in R.Strauss opera ‘Elektra’. In 2003 Elizabeth was awarded an A.R.A.M (awarded to past students who have achieved distinction in the profession. Elizabeth also teaches singing privately and lives in Carmarthen with her husband and daughter.
