BiographyAlistair Young is a British organist. He studied at Trinity College of Music with Valda Aveling and Dr. Harry Gabb. The early part of his career centred around his work as an organist and choirmaster, with recitals in Exeter and Southwark Cathedrals.

Since 1987 he has played with the major symphony and chamber orchestras, including the BBC Symphony and Concert Orchestras, the Philharmonia, the Royal Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic the London Symphony Orchestra and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, with whom he has recorded with Sir Simon Rattle. He has toured the USA, South Africa and throughout Europe, performing at many prestigious venues and festivals.

Alistair has given many concerto performances, including those of Handel, Hanson, Haydn, Jongen and Poulenc. He has enjoyed commercial recording including Lesley Garrett’s TV show and many film sessions. A member of the Vocal Faculty at Trinity College, Alistair specialises in coaching singers.
