BiographyKatarina Bradic was born in Prokuplje, Serbia. She finished her studies and received a degree in music pedagogy and voice at the Music Academy of Novi Sad in Serbia. After making her operatic debut in 2002 at the Serbian National Theatre as Mamma Lucia in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana she performed roles such as Nicklausse in Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann, Maddalena in Verdi’s Rigoletto and Flora in La Traviata.

In November 2008 she sang the title role in Francesco Pistocchi’s opera Il Narciso in a concert performance in Cologne, conducted by Kai Wessel. She also returned to Japan as Maddalena in Rigoletto and performed the same role at the St Margarethen Festival in summer 2009.

During the season 2009/2010 Katarina Bradic was a member of the Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp and Gent. Her most important assignments there were Medea in Cavalli’s Giasone in a new production, conducted by Federico Maria Sardelli, Olga in a new production of Tchaikovsky’s Jevgenij Onegin, Suzuki in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and Margret in Berg’s Wozzeck in a production by Guy Joosten.

In addition to her ensemble contracts at Vlaamse Opera and during the 2010/2011 season at Deutsche Oper Berlin she made a highly successful role debut as Bizet's Carmen at the Klosterneuburg Festival in Austria in July 2010 and could be heard in the title role of Il Narciso in Cologne, conducted by Kai Wessel in May 2011.

In September 2011 Katarina Bradic made her debut at the Teatro Real Madrid in a new production of Elektra, conducted by Semyon Bychkov. Further engagements during the 2011/2012 season included her company debut with Komische Oper Berlin in the title role of a new production of Carmen and her role debut as Amastre in Händel's Xerxes in a new production by Stefan Herheim, also at Komische Oper Berlin. This production subsequently lead her to the Bergen Festival in Norway later in 2012.

In 2012/2013 Bradic made her company debuts with Theater Erfurt as Carmen and with Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Dusseldorf as Amastre in Xerxes. Other performances included the world premiere of a staged Mahler program, Mahlermania at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Carmen and Xerxes at Komische Oper Berlin, Carmen in Tallinn and Margret in Wozzeck at Teatro Real Madrid in a production by Christoph Marthaler and conducted by Sylvain Cambreling.

In 2013/2014 she again joined the ensemble of Deutsche Oper Berlin, where she is performing roles such as Emilia in Otello and Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana. Further engagements this season include Mahlermania in Rouen, Rihm's Die Eroberung von Mexiko at Teatro Real de Madrid, Carmen and Xerxes at Berlin Komische Oper as well as Carmen in Erfurt.

Performances in 2014/15 include the title role of The Rape of Lucretia at Deutsche Oper Berlin, new productions of Carmen at the Den Norske Opera Oslo and at the Festival La Perla in Switzerland, Amastre in Xerxes at Deutsche Oper am Rhein Dusseldorf and Bradamante in Alcina at the Aix-en-Provence Festival.
