Biography | Born in South Africa, actress-singer-writer Pauline Malefane has sung in theaters and concert halls from NY to Tokyo, and her performances in the demanding role of Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute have won critical acclaim in London and other locales. She's the co-founder of Isango Ensemble, an internationally renowned Cape Town-based opera company that draws its performers from townships surrounding the city and has played to audiences of more than 3 million on stages around the world. Its productions have created innovative work that helps build a sense of nationhood. Malefane has given master classes to UCLA's theatre and music students and is also an advocate for The Global Fund. |
