BiographyJeanne Lady Galway (born October 8th, 1955) is an American concert flutist, teacher and the wife of Sir James Galway. She tours both by herself and with her husband performing and teaching master classes. As one of the leading female flute soloists of the decade she has appeared with the Chicago, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Denver symphonies and the National Symphony.
Lady Galway was born and raised in Long Island, NY where she attended New York City's Mannes College of Music. In 1984 she married Sir James Galway, with whom she travels and performs. She currently lives in Lucerne, Switzerland with Sir James.

Throughout her career, Lady Galway has been featured on albums from RCA Victor, BMG Classics and Deutsche Grammophone, and in 2008 Irish America Magazine awarded Sir James and Lady Jeanne Galway the "Spirit of Ireland" award in recognition of their roles as musical ambassadors. In addition to her career as a soloist, Lady Galway is also an accomplished chamber musician, touring regularly with her trio Zephyr (pianist Jonathan Feldman and cellist Darrett Adkins). The group’s first recording Zephyr – Winds of Romance, includes works by Haydn, Martinu and Weber Lady Galway currently performs on an 18 carat, James Galway edition gold Nagahara flute.
On December 2013 Lady Galway along with Sir James Galway launched an online interactive program aimed at beginning flute students of all ages. The first fifteen lessons contain an interactive series of masterclasses, tips and live concerts direct on the internet for access for flute students which the Galways have created together.
She also works with students at the ten day ‘Galway Flute Festival’ held each summer with her husband in Switzerland.
Lady Galway supports the charity Future Talent headed by the Duchess of Kent. She also often performs at fundraising events for UNICEF, SOS, FARA and Marie Curie Cancer Care
