BiographyAustralian soprano Siobhan Stagg made her Royal Opera debut in 2015 singing the title role in Rossi’s Orpheus at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, Shakespeare’s Globe.

Stagg studied at the University of Melbourne the Wales International Academy of Voice, Cardiff. She went on to further study on young artist programmes with the Salzburg Festival and Deutsche Oper Berlin, where she now sings as a member of the ensemble. Engagements include Sophie von Faninal (Der Rosenkavalier), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Sophie (Werther), Woglinde (Das Rheingold) and Woodbird (Siegfried) for Deutsche Oper Berlin, Konstanza (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) and Pamina for Salzburg Festival, Cordelia (Aribert Reimann’s Lear) for Hamburg State Opera and Woglinde for Berlin State Opera.

Stagg sings regularly in concert with such conductors as Marko Letonja, Kent Nagano, Simon Rattle, Donald Runnicles, Pinchas Steinberg, Christian Thielemann and Simone Young. Engagements include Ein deutsches Requiem with Thielemann and the Berlin Philharmonic. Her recordings include the solo album ‘Hymne à l’amour’, nominated for Best Classical Album in the 2013 Australian Independent Music Awards. Her many awards include at the 2014 Belvedere Competition and the 2014 International Mozart Competition, first prize in the 2013 Stuart Burrows International Voice Awards and first prize and Audience Choice Award in the 2012 Mietta Song Competition.
