Biography | Fraya Thomsen is a composer whose foundations began with the traditional music of Scotland. From an early age she was attracted by the outstanding quality of emotional commitment and interpretation that the great performers of this music embody, and this is now a quality which she calls upon in her approach to composition. Fraya loves to work with story, most especially in collaboration with others.
Fraya holds an MA in Composing for Film and TV from the National Film and Television School and a BA (Hons) in Scottish Music from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She won the Best Composer award at the Underwire Film Festival 2013 for score for 'Stay The Same', directed by Sam Firth, and the Glasgow Short Film Festival jury chose to applaud Fraya Thomsen for her sublime score. She was a nominee in the Underwire Film Festival 2017 Composer category for her work on Rose Hendry's Bubblegum. She has composed scores for a great number of award winning films. |
