Biography | Ladislav Elgr (born 19 August 1980 ) is a Czech opera singer ( tenor ).
Ladislav Elgr studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and was already singing at various city theaters in the Czech Republic.
At the Smetana Festival Litomyl Elgr made his successful debut as Jenik in the Sold Bride . After a season in the Opera Studio of the Staatstheater Nürnberg (2005/2006) he was until 2008 a member of the International Opera Studio of the State Opera Hamburg . Ladislav Elgr then joined the Vienna Volksoper ensemble for two seasons , where he sang Tamino , Alfred , Lysander and other roles in cousins ??from Dingsda , Fra Diavolo and Tiefland .
Guest engagements led the artist to the Wexford Festival in 2004, to the Teatro La Fenice in 2006, to the Macerata Festival in 2007, and to the Janácek Festival in Brno in 2008 . Furthermore Elgr appeared as Froh in Wagner Days in Budapest with Ádám Fischer , 2009 at OsterKlang in Vienna and in 2010 when Edwin in Csárdásfürstin -Inszenierung of Peter Konwitschny at the Graz Opera . In autumn 2011 he appeared as Bes in the world premiere of Lera Auerbachs Gogol at the Theater an der Wienwith, where he sang the following year in the new productions of Francesca da Rimini and Jolanthe .
In 2012 he made his role debut as a prince in Dvorák's Rusalka in Glyndebourne (on tour) , he also sang the same role in 2013 at the Grand Théâtre de Genève , and in 2014 at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw . 2013 he made his debut as Albert Gregor in Robert Carsen's production of The Makropulos Case at La Fenice, and as Janek in the Opéra Bastille in Paris, at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Steva in Christof Loy's staging of Jenufa , and in the opera Antwerp as Sergei in Calixto Bieito's new production ofLady Macbeth of Mtsensk . At the Theater an der Wien in December 2013 he took over the role of Nathaniel in Claus Guth's scenic realization of Schubert's Lazarus . In 2014 he made his debut as Don José in Carmen at the Theater St. Gallen and returned for the revivals of Daphne and Schwanda, the bagpiper to the Semperoper Dresden, where he had already sung the respective premiere series in 2010 and 2012. In December Ladislav Elgr sang for the first time under the direction of Simon Rattle at the Staatsoper Berlin the Skuratov in Aus dem Totenhaus vonLeo Janácek staged by Patrice Chéreau . In April / May 2015 he guested at the Cologne Opera with his role debut as Matteo in Arabella by Richard Strauss .
In February 2017 Elgr took over at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as a partner of Michael Nagy the tenor leading role in an opera about Edward II (libretto after Marlowe by Thomas Jonigk ) (musical direction: Thomas Søndergård , production: Christof Loy ). [1] In the fall of 2017, he returned as Skuratov in House of the Dead by Leos Janacek (Director: Patrice Chéreau and conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen ) to the Paris Opera back.
Concert Elgr's concert hall included Dvorák's Stabat Mater , Mendelssohn Bartholdy's The First Walpurgis Night under Thomas Hengelbrock and Elias with the NDR Symphony Orchestra in Hamburg, Lübeck and Bremen, Janáceks árka with the RSB under Marek Janowski , Bruckner's Te Deum , Haydn's Creation , Handel's Messiah and Beethoven's Ninth .
