BiographyWith a huge decline in the number of brass bands in the UK, Zone One Brass (ZOB) is a success story. Formed in 2002, ZOB helps carry on this great British tradition as not only one of the country's newest but Central London's only brass band.

ZOB was started by friends all studying at the Royal College of Music (RCM) for musicians to have the chance to continue 'banding' while undertaking their classical training. Following a tradition of brass bands being associated with a firm or community, ZOB is now Brass Band-in-Residence at the RCM, one of the leading music conservatoires in the world. Brass Bands have a proud tradition of competition and ZOB respects this heritage by entering several of these contests a year. A highlight of the band's short history was an appearance at the 2009 National Championships held at the Royal Albert Hall.

ZOB has performed at a number of high profile engagements including the opening of the Eurostar terminal at St. Pancras station, lunchtime concerts at London's Southbank Centre and a number of charity events and music festivals. ZOB has also performed at Buckingham Palace in the presence of HRH The Queen, as well as for HRH Prince Charles at the RCM. The band recently made its first venture into music education in a joint workshop with the Royal Opera House for the Department of Culture, Media & Sports.
