Biography | Claire Dux (2 August 1885 8 October 1967), was an operatic and concert soprano with a successful career in continental Europe, England, and the United States. She studied in Berlin, made her début in Cologne in 1906 as Pamina and sang in the Berlin Royal Opera, 1911-18; she sang Sophie at Covent Garden (1911) and appeared in Chicago and elsewhere in the USA from 1921. She retired early from the stage; her voice was a lyric soprano of exceptional purity, controlled by a firm technique. |
