Biography | Oda Slobodskaya was been born on 28 November 1888 in Vilno (now Vilnius) near the Polish border. She won a scholarship for nine years study at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. She went on to achive great success in America, Berlin and the UK, and in 1932, following her marriage to Captain Raymond Pelly, England became her permanent home. She had a long and successful performance and recital career and went on to become a Professor of Singing at the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music. She died in 1970. |
