Biography
The Queens Hall Orchestra was founded in 1895 as the resident orchestra of the concert hall, the Queens Hall (opened in 1893), to inaugurate the Promenade Concerts (today the BBC Proms). In 1915 the orchestra changed its name to the New Queens Hall Orchestra.
For thirty-two years it gave nearly every Promenade Concert at Queens Hall, London under the direction of conductor Henry Wood. In 1995 the New Queens Hall Orchestra gave the Centenary Henry Wood Promenade Concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
