BiographyLady Halle was a Czech violinst. She was a child prodigy, performing with her siblings, particularly Amalie and Viktor. Initially she was pushed to play the piano but instead favoured the violin.

During the 1840s, female performers in England were 'celebrated as singers, tolerated as pianists, but a solo career as a violinst or cellist was out of the question.' However, attitudes began to shift. She was named 'Violinst to the Queen' by Queen Alexandra in 1901
