Biography | D.W. Noakes of Greenwich ws the official lanternist of the Royal Albert Hall. He took his own slides for 'dioramic' projection and built his own steam-launch for a photographic voyage through the Midlands from London. His illustrated lecture, 'England Bisected by a Steam Launch' was delivered to an audience of 1,500 at the Crystal Palace in 1891, and his set of 300 slides under that title constitutes one of the finest topgraphical records of the time. |
