Biography | Beryl Kimber was born to a musical family in Perth, Australia and made her debut as a violin soloist at the age of 13. She won the ABC Instrumental and Vocal Competition and studied at the Royal Academy of Music, London, where she made her debut at Wigmore Hall in 1950. In 1958 Beryl Kimber won First Distinction at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, where she studied with David Oistrakh. She returned to Australia in 1963 to take up a position of lecturer at the Elder Conservatorium in Adelaide. |
