BiographyRoland Lamb's Seaboard GRAND is an exciting new musical instrument. It contains sensors which react to the touch via a soft, three-dimensional surface that enables unprecedentedly intuitive manipulation of the fundamental characteristics of sound. At eighteen he moved to a monastery in Japan to practice Zen Buddhism, and then travelled extensively, working as a visual artist and jazz musician. A passion for cross-cultural thought brought him to Harvard, where he concentrated on Classical Chinese and Sanskrit philosophy, before studying in the Design Products department at the RCA. Now based in London, Roland is the founder and CEO of ROLI, a technology start-up, and he constantly strives to find new ways to work with the SEA interface alongside his multidisciplinary team of Albertopolis graduates from the Royal College of Arts, Royal College of Music and Imperial College London.
