Performance Notes"POLICE CALLED TO POP RIOT AT ALBERT HALL.
Pandemonium broke out at a Shelter-sponsored concert at London's Royal Albert Hall last night when a pop group, The Family, was 'blacked out' in the middle of their final number. Police were called to clear the hall.
Electricity supplies to the group's instruments were switched off and a dinner-jacketed official appeared on the stage and said to the audience: 'Your time is up - you need £60 to carry on'.
As the fans began shouting, the Family manager offered to pay the £60. The official refused the cash. The crowd tore fittings from the seats and hurled them at the stage."
(The Daily Telegraph, 20 December 1969)

Damage by fans to the Hall amounted to £28.00 and was cited for one of the reasons for the Hall's Rock and Pop ban of 1972.
