Performance NotesThe Black and White Ball was advertised as a sixteen hour event - the biggest event London clubland had ever seen. A specially commissioned set was installed designed by Robert Smith based on Alice in Wonderland. A holographic laser was used for the first time ever in an indoor venue of the Hall's size in Europe, which was capable of projecting images over a hundred feet high. Two remote screens were also suspended either side of the stage with a backdrop behind the width of the Hall. Europe's largest sound company were brought in to provide 40K Watts of sound suspended overhead in two huge clusters to complement the Halls acoustics. Paul Oakenfold and Jeremy Healey, two of the most popular DJ's in England both performed on the night.

The Ball was held in two parts. Outside the Hall, a line of coaches provided a shuttle service for guests to the after party at the London Hippodrome, Leicester Square, which opened its doors from 04:00-12:00 on 17 April 1994.
