They were accompanied by Prince Albert; Princess Christian; Prince Henry of Battenburg, Prince Alexander of Battenberg, and Princess Victoria of Schleswig-Holdstein were also present. The Royal party were received by Lord Ranfurly, Adeline Duchess of Bedford, Lady Randolph Churchill, and Lord Howe, and Miss Priscilla Perrott, daughter of Sir Herbert Perrott, secretary of the order, presented a bouquet to the Queen. As their Majesties entered the Royal box the National Anthem was played by the massed bands of the Brigade of Guards, followed by the overture 'Britannia'.
The feature of the programme was the reappearance of Madame Patti, who was very warmly received. Another very popular item of the programme was the singing of 'It's a long, long way to Tipperary' by Mr Charles Mott, and the artists also included Miura, the Japanese singer, Miss Carrie Tubb, Miss Phylliss Lett and Mr Plunket Greene. The programme ended with the performance by the massed bands of the Russian, Belgian, Japanese, and French national anthems and 'Rule Brittania' and their Majesties were enthusiastically cheered at the close.' (The Times, 25 October 1914)
This was the very last public appearance of Madame Adelina Patti, who died in 1919.
