Performance NotesAccording to The Times (25 June 1959), audience members were issued with mouth organs, penny whistles and pan pipes with which they took part in 'Song of the Oppressed Peoples'. During an interlude, Antony Hopkins accompanied violinist Norman Bagge (a disabled street musician) in the first movement of a Handel sonata. Additionally there was an overture for string orchestra and three kazoos and a fantasy for orchestra and eight bottles.
