| Performance Notes | "The King and Queen will be present this afternoon at the 'Jubilee Concert' at the Albert Hall, which is being held to commemorate the opening of the Hall by Queen Victoria on March 20 1871, and the formation of the Royal Choral Society in October of that year. Besides their Majesties, there will be present Princess Mary, the Duke of Connaught, Lady Paricia Ramsay, Princess Christian and Princess Beatrice. The two latter and the Duke of Connaught were also present at the opening by Queen Victoria 50 years ago. On their arrival, the King and Queen will be received by Lord Howe (President ), and members of the Council of the Corporation of the Hall, and by Lord Shaftsbury (Vice-President) and the Committee of the Management of the Royal Choral Society. During the interval the King will receive the seven surviving members of the Royal Choral Society, who joined it in 1871, and are still active members of it."

"Fifty years of musical activity at the Royal Albert Hall was celebrated on Saturday in the presence of the King and Queen with all the symbols of dignity and festivity, both material and muscial, which it was possible to muster. ...the programme had been designed to recall typical phrases in the career of the Royal Choral Society whose life has been central with that of the hall.
...The reception of the veterans of the society by the King must have been the most gratifying to the performers of all the votes of thanks which were duly registered in their different ways during the afternoon. It, too, had its symbolism. It acknowledged that musical performances of this kind could only have been carried on through recent years by the exertions of the veterans. Sir Frederick Bridge in particular deserves all congratulations for having maintained the Albert Hall performances through the war and more.
Shortly before their Majesties arrived a presentation was made to Mr Palmer marking the jubilee and his completion of 20 years' service connected with the hall. Miss Elsie Fogerty, principal of the Central School of Dramatic Art, handed to him on behalf of herself and her pupils a laurel harp with golden strings.
His Majesty conferred the Victorian Order on Mr. Hilton Carter, in recognition and appreication of his services during 20 years as manager of the Royal Albert Hall."
