Performance NotesEach tier of boxes was festooned with pink roses and green leeves. The Royal box was banked with Dorothy Perkins roses.

According to the Daily Telegraph (20 May 1911) the Hall was decorated in the Watteau style. The fronts of the three tiers of boxes and the balcony were draped in ivory tinted silken hangings, festooned with garlands of Royal roses, and interspersed at intervals with brilliantly-illuminated medallions bearing the Royal monograms, the National emblems, and other devices. The Royal boxes were artistically decorated and furnished.
"The elaborately embroidered hammer-cloth bearing the Royal Arms and monogram worked on red plush, which was specially designed and executed by the Royal School of Art Needlework, at South Kensington, for the opening of the hall by Queen Victoria in 1871, will form part of the scheme of adornment."
