Performance NotesAn event celebrating the King of Norway's 70th birthday. Preceeding the event a procession took place in Hyde Park of some 5,000 Norwegians, headed by members of the Norwegian Government and a party of school children. This followed units of the Norwegian fighting services, members of the Home Guard, and a large contingent of the Norwegian colony in Britain (The Daily Telegraph, 4 August 1942)

A poem was read by a Norwegian soldier and actor, Corporal Kanut Wigert, which was written by Arnaulf Overland, a leading Norwegian poet, who was in a Nazi concentration camp. The poem was smuggled into Norway, circulated in the underground newspapers and memorised by the people. (The Daily Telegraph, 4 August 1942)
