"A Nation Awake" will be the keynote of the national work of the Oxford Group Movement during July. The movement, which aims for "Spiritual Revolution through God-control" in 50 countries, has as its objective in this country "God to govern a nation through God-controlled men. Dr Frank Buchman, leader and founder of the movement, has just arrived with a returning British team from a National Assembly in America. During July England will be the centre of the work, which will open with a meeting in the Royal Albert Hall on Tuesdau July 7... Contingents from South Africa, Norway, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada has already arrived. Further detachments will come from Holland, Switzerland, Sweden, France and Germany." (The Times, 3 July 1936) |
