Performance Notes'......But neither Pearce nor Meade should make any plans beyond the title bout for Frank Bruno, the big man from Wandsworth, wants to have a big say in heavyweight affairs. And who is going to argue with him after the way in which he demolished Tony Moore in 2min 12 sec of the second round last night?
Bruno said afterwards in his dressing room: 'I know I am going to be the world champion', and then later crossed himself. He said later this month he would be going to New York for the summer to sample some of the heavies in that city.
It was an excellent win for Bruno, for that nondescript Americans in quick time, this was his first British opponent and an honest to goodness one at that. It was particularly satisfying for Bruno because recently Moore had gone the distance with Funso Banjo, the other much touted world heavyweight prospect.' (Srikumar Sen, The Times, 2 June 1982)
