Performance Notes | "The Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam and Dr Mengelberg, the conductor, who are giving three concerts in London at the Albert Hall, were welcomned by the Mayor of Harwich on landing at Parkeston last night.They had travelled from Amsterdam via Flushing. Dr Mengelberg was met atthe quay by Sir Thomas Beecham and by Mr Lionel Powell, who had arranged the London concerts, ad was conducted to the Railway Hotel by the Mayor (Mr T Bernard), wearing his official robe and chain, was waiting to receive him. The Deputy Mayor and the Deputy Town Clerk were also present... Shortly afterward the orchestra left for London. It numbers 100 players and includes seven women. Dr Mengelberg said thay looked forward to the concerts in London with great interest and pleasure...The Concertegbouw Orchestra of Amsterdam will give the first of their three concerts this evening, and will return to Holland on Saturday."
