The Liberal party made British political history by using closed-circuit television to link the party rally at the Hall with those being heldin Bristol and Newcastle. Jeremy Thorpe made his first maor public speech as party leader at this rally. He was seen simultaneously on 400 square foot screens in the two other cities. Mr Jo Grimond was sound relayed into the Hall from Pollock.
