Performance Notes | The magic of Disney transformed the Royal Albert Hall into a glittering ice palace, mimicking the white winter world of Narnia, from the Walt Disney/Walden Media film adaptation of C S Lewis' timeless classic. The outside of the Hall was illuminated and decorated in the style of Narnias 100 year winter. In place of a red carpet was a white carpet.
An after-show party was held in Kensington Garden, with giant trees, frosted and sparkling, and adorned with ice carvings. The centrepiece of the after-show party was a towering iced chandelier surrounded by Turkish delights for guests to eat and a purpose built ice rink for skating.
The premiere was selected as the prestigious 2005 Royal Film Performance and served simultaneously as a fundraiser in aid of the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund.
Chairman of Walt Disney Studios, Dick Cook, said: We are proud and thrilled that The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe has been selected as this years Royal Film Performance, in aid of the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund. It is truly a great honour to be chosen for this most prestigious event on the British film calendar, and we think this event is the perfect place to introduce the film to audiences around the world.
