Performance Notes | 'Bombadier Wells knocked out Paul Journee (France) in the 13th round of a 20-round contest at the Royal Albert Hall, South Kensington, last night.
Once again, there was a great crowd of spectators at the Albert Hall, and it is a sign of the times that there is an ever-increasing number of women present on these occasions. The people who go to see a boxing match are drawn from many classes of society, but nowhere is this more apparent than in this particular arena. In the boxes and lower part of the house could be seen parties - of both sexes - in evening dress, while, above, there was a solid mass of men in the tweeds and serge of everyday wear. The St Patrick's Sports Association, under whose management the boxing was held, are to be congratulated upon the arrangements, which were as good last night as they were bad when Beckett met Smith recently".
