Performance NotesThis was the inaugural concert in a series of new Promenade Concerts established by Landon Ronald, Thomas Beeching and Thomas Baylis. They promised that there would be no German music played.

The series of concerts was started as the regular opera season were suspended bacuse of the war, the only operatic prospect being concerts at the London Opera House promoted by Mr Rosing. There were also no exhibitions at Earls Court or elsewhere in 1915 and the musical life of the Capital was limited.

Elgar's 'Carillon' was recited for the first time by Blegian actor M. Calro Liten.

Smoking was permitted in all parts of the auditorium.
