Performance NotesEstelle Roberts clairvoyant demonstration:
"Particularly fine evidence was given by a William Nottingham in spirit when he contacted his daughter. After saying that Willam 'had Mother with him' Estelle repeated the name of Lucy, subsequently asking the daughter if that was her name. 'Yes' came the reply. 'He saw you standing by the window,' Estelle continued 'You looked up at the light and said 'Give me a word of encouragement.' 'Every word is correct' the daughter fervently responded. 'Your father has brought Harry and George Rogers, an old family friend... George passed in the first world war...' 'Quite true' was the corroborative reply.
The names of Arthur, Frank, Emma and Edith were given. All were recongised, the recipient stating that Edith was her sister's name. ... 'Your father is giving you a test by asking if you remember Fred Archer..' 'Yes I do' was the unhesitating answer. 'Fred passed tragically,... [he] had a sister called Alice. He lived over Baxter's grocery shop!' Again came immediate confirmation.
A moving episode occured when Derek, a young man in spirit, returned to speak with his mother. Though visibly affected, the mother acknowledged the medium's declaration that he had passed when in his twenties. A reference to flowers having been placed beside his portrait was understood - 'Just a poppy, mother!' was the son's remark. That Derek was often with his mother was made apparent by his reference to a conversation concerning himself between his mother and a friend. 'Tell her not to grieve. I want to learn all I can from this world, so that I can help her,' was his final message. 'The messsges meant to much to me,' the mother, Mrs Coombes.. told our reporter afterwards. ... At the close of these particular messages a red poppy petal was seen to spiral downards from the apex of the Hall dome, falling close to the boy's mother. Was there any significance between this and the spirit's reference to a poppy?' Another spirit communicator exhibited such determination to contact a relative in the audience that the medium remarked that she was being 'knocked off her feet.' Giving the spirit's name as May Hall Estelle said 'I've to tell you that Jack is with her. Jack says ' Hallo Flo! How are you?'' Following confirmation, Estelle continued by saying, ' May has brought your mother along and asks you to give her love to Evelyn and Hilda...
A man in spirit by the name of Harrison contacted his wife and daughter, and correctly gave the latter's name of Dorothy. As the daughter burst into tears, Estelle said 'I know it is a shock, but try to realise that he is with you. He has never been back before.'
The final message came from a Russian, who though unable to speak much English succeeded in making his presence known. 'Zita! Zita! Is that your name?' the medium enquired of a young woman. This was admitted to be correct."
