Performance Notes | The Air Training Corps (ATC) was formed in February 1941 and they encouraged thier members to take part in games and sports including boxing, swimming, football and athletics. This was the first big ATC boxing tournament staged at the Hall, which was sponsored by the Star newspaper who offered to promote an inter-squadron competition in London and the Home Counties. In October of this year, the ATC Boxing Association was formed, under ABA rules. The next big ATC boxing tournament was held at the Hall in June 1943, again in co-operation with the Star, becoming the Corps' National Championships.
The proceeds were given to the RAF Benevolent Fund and the ATC Welfare Fund. |
