Performance Notes | One of the most stereotypically '60s' events the Hall saw, this Oxfam benefit show broke down the doors with a who's-who of counterculture celebrities.
Laughs were provided by then-breaking-through Barry Humphries, the 'father of modern satire' Peter Cook, his long-running comedy partner Dudley Moore, as well as rising TV comics John Bird and Bernard Braden.
Music, to add to this lineup, was provided by classic 60s pop and British Invasion artists - Jackie Trent, Peter and Gordon, Paul Jones, The Alberts, Chris Farlowe, and the Thunderbirds.
Finally, if that wasn't enough, the event culminated with the first large venue appearance by The Pink Floyd, still fronted by Syd Barrett in the year preceding their debut album - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. |
