Performance Notes"Messages from the King and Queen, the Prince of Wales, and the Duke of Connaught were read at a display given by the London Division of the Church Lad's Brigade at the Royal Albert Hall last evening in ceebration of the King's Silver Jubilee. Lord Amthill presided.
The Royal messages were in reply yo loyal and dutiful greetings sent by the Bishop of London, president of the division, on behalf of all ranks. The King and Queen, who are Patrons of the London Division, expressed warm thanks for the message, and said they were interested to hear of the display. They sent their best wishes for the continued prosperity of the division.
The Prince of Wales sent his best wishes for the success of the display and for the furture of all concerned. The Duke of Connaught, who is National President, said he was proud to have been President of the Brigade since its foundation. He hoped the display would be appreciated by all who took an interest in that excellent movement.
A large and varied programme was admirably carried through by 700 members of the Brigade from all parts of the divisional area. The items included exercises in pyhsical training, drills, and marching, organized games, and band music, and concluded with an impressive tattoo. The display was under the direction fo Major F Cheesman, divisional adjutant. During the display a message was conveyed to the platform by bag signalling that the London Division thanked the Prince of Wales for his kind thought for youth and their Majesties for endorsing his choice of object for the Jubilee memorial fund.
Lord Ampthill, addressing the members of the Brigade after Lady Amthill had presented a number of special trophies, said that everybody who knew anything at all about the actvities of the Church Lads' Brigade had nothing but good to say of them. The Brigade was doing just the work for which King George's Jubilee Trust was instituted, and it was to be hoped, therefore, that the Brigade would enjoy a full share of the ebenfits of that fund.
The Bishop of London was presented with a long-service mdeal to mark the completion by him of 40 years' active work in and for the Brigade and as a token of the affection of the members. He said, in thanking Lord Amthill, that the Church Lads' Brigade did not foster a jingo, military spirit, but sought to make the lads loyal and disciplined citizens of this country and of the Church.
General Sir John Shea, member of the governing body of the Church Lads' Brigade, seconded."
