Performance Notes"AUDIENCE STORM PLATFORM.
SINGERS'S RECITAL.
Nearly 9,000 people shouted and sang in enthusiasm at the Albert Hall last night after Donald Peers, the radio singer, had given a song recital for two hours. Standing under a spotlight, he sang 30 numbers, with a 10 minute interval. Photographers frequently took pictures.
The programme continued for three-quarters of an hour longer than scheduled. Th epolice advised that it should be discontinued before he sang a favourite song for which some of the audience called.
As soon as the recital wa sbrought to an end the platform was stormed by a number of men and women of varying ages asking for his autograph, seeking to pat him on the back or to talk to him. Others sought autographs from the two piano accompanists or anybody associated with the programme."
