"Bransby Williams jumped to his feet and shouted: 'Why do you haunt me, Jacob Marley?' He seized his chair and shook it violently. The apparition passed. With a sigh of wearines the old man exclaimed irritably: 'Indigestion - that's what it is.' Twelve thousand eyes were watching the old character actor play the part of Scrooge from Dicken's 'A Christmas Carol.' ..."
George Daisley demonstration:
"The vast crowd heard George Daisley give two exact memorial dates in the first two minutes of his demonstration. With his usual high-speed delivery, he pointed to a lady wearing a white hat in the well of the auditorium. 'I see four spirits with you,' he declared. 'There is a gentleman who was 82 years of age when he passed over on August 9, 1913, and his name - Uncle Will.' The medium paused a moment: 'Have you got that? (Yes).' Then he went straight ahead without stopping: 'Uncle Will was brought along by your mother and father. They are saying: 'We want you to know that we are anxious to come in order, that we can give you our love.' You are passing though a difficult time?' The recipient nodded. 'And here is Annie? Can't get it? Her name is Mrs Ward, she lived next-door-but-one when you were a little girl.' The recipient remembered.
The medium was off on his second message to a woman on his left: 'I have Sarah, your grandmother and John, your granddad. She saw you looking a your garments before you came here, wondering if you would replace the top-coat with another one. Remember? Yes.'
Then came the second memorial date: 'I have Mrs Wilson for you,' he said pointing to a woman who accepted this. 'I see a silver cross in loving memory of Annie Elizabeth Wilson, May 9, 1939. Is that right?' It was right. 'The lady with the black hat and spectables' - George was pointing over a lot of heads. A hand was raised. 'Your father's in the spirit world. Also your brother who has been over a long time - Can't get it?' The recipient shook her head. 'The lady next to you? It is for you? Yes.' With this confirmed the medium went ahead: 'We want to help you over a difficult period of time which has lasted for the past three years. We are very proud of the way you have been overcoming these things. Geroge is with you and Harry, your Uncle, a lady named Alic, who is your Aunt. Mr and Mrs Cooke want to be kindly remembered to you. We want to give you a sense of our presence, they are saying.
'Your mother used to make her own bread? Can't get it?' The recipient who had accepted so far was now shaking her head. 'Then this is your mother's mother, becuase your mother says she was kneading dough and had bread on her mind when suddenly she found herself transferred from your world to mine. Do you get it? The recipient remembered. 'I have here Mary Ann, your grandma and Polly. She is a lady called Mrs Richardson, who had been married three times. Mrs King she was, then Mrs Clarke, then Mrs Richardson. Is that right?' 'Yes- that's right,' called back to recipient. 'The lady there,' Daisley passed on. 'Your husband is in the spirit world. He is standing with both hands on your shoulders. 'You know, I would not believe in this when I was on the earth,' he says. But he did promise to ry and come back if he could. I have your mother and father, Cousin Jim, Harry, Mr and Mrs Watson who are neighbours...'
'I want the lady in green next,' said George.This person was probably seated beside the last recipient, although it was not certain, but the medium continued this: 'Your father's saying, 'Don't let her dilly-dally about those spectacles. She wants a new pair. The first of the two pairs which she had got has darker frames and the right arm is damaged so that it won't close properly.' The laughter that greeted this remark was ample evidence of acceptance. The next part of the message brought other people into the joke: 'We will be with you when you keep that long protracted dental appointment you were talking about last week.'
