| Performance Notes | Bruce Forsyth's debut Royal Albert Hall performance.
Thirty medals for contributions to televison were presented during the event. Recipients included Mr William Taynton, 56, of Syndenham was presented with a silver meal at this event, having been the first man to appear on television. In 1925 he was an office boy working in the same building where John Logie Baird was making his early experiments. One day he was asked to sit in front of the camera while Mr Baird went to another room to find his first transmission was successful. Additionally Mr Benjamin Clapp, 70 received a medal for demonstrating transatlantic television in New York in 1928 and built the first television set, when co-operating with Mr Baird.
