Performance NotesThis was the first occassion at which a temporary floor or 'great floor' was ever used at the Royal Albert Hall. This would have been a temporary raised floor covering the arena and some, if not all of the stalls seating, and which would increase the floor capacity for bazaars and balls enormously.

The Daily Telegraph (21 June 1899) reported that:
'Ranged around this spacious promenade [Arena floor]...covered entirely with an asbestos carpet, as a precaution against fire, are the stalls. These are most charmingly draped in different-hued muslins, generally the colours of the countries they represent, thus producing altogther a pretty kaleidoscopic effect of brightness and tinting...
Three enormous temple-like pavilions occupy the centre of the hall."

There is an extensive report of the Bazaar in The Times newspaper from 22 June 1899 and The Daily Telegraph from 23 June 1899.

A souvenir book was produced for this event by Nassau Press in order to raise money for the Charing Cross Hospital, costing half a guinea. The book contained 200 pages of original stories, poetry, illustrations and scores from leading artists including Arthur Conan Doyle. The book was compiled and edited by Mr H Beerbohm Tree.

£15,000 was raised for the Charing Cross Hospital.
