Performance NotesOver 150 choirs took part with a combined number of 1,500 voices.

"...In view of the ad hoc status of the choir, their singing was remarkably accurate and well disciplined. If the women's voices outbalanced the men's, that may have been because the number of singers assembled resulted in the men being placed wither far up in the highest tiers of the organ or below on the floor facing away from the audience. The massice effect of this huge body of voices was splendid indeed in the great climaxes of Parry's Ode and "Hallelujah" Chorus. The soprano solos was sung by miss Isobel Baillie and the direction of the music was shared by Dr Malcolm Sragent and Sir Adrian Boult."
