"PRINCESS'S CALL TO EMPIRE YOUTH.
Princess Elizabeth broadcast an 850-word Empire Day message to British youth last night.
Speaking at a festival organised at the Albert Hall by the Empire Day Movement and the Sunday Empire News, she urged the interchange of visits by schools and youth organisations by air as a means of maintaining wartime friendships.
She referred to her own coming Empire visits with the King and Queen, her first big tour outside Britain, and said that she hoped it would be the first of many such journeys."
(The Daily Telegraph, 25 May 1946)

Princess Elizabeth was accompanied by Lady Mary Strachey. They were received by the Earl of Gowrie VC (President of the Empire movement) and Lady Gowrie, and by Viscount Kemsley and Lady Kemsley. Guests included Viscount Bennett.
